How to install the Nina Systems plugin

You will need to be logged in to WordPress as an Administrator, since only admins can add plugins.

  1. Open the plugin installer

In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins › Add New Plugin. On some versions this reads Add New.

  2. Search for Nina Systems

Type Nina Systems into the search box. Look for the plugin by Nina Systems.

  3. Install and activate

Click Install Now, then click Activate once the button changes.

  4. Connect to Nina

Go to Settings › Nina Systems and click Connect to Nina.

  5. Approve the connection

WordPress opens its standard Authorize Application screen. Click Yes, I approve of this connection. The Nina Systems settings page will now show Connected, and you are done.

Prefer to upload it? Download the zip from the WordPress.org listing, then go to Plugins › Add New Plugin › Upload Plugin, choose the file, and click Install Now. Pick up again at step 3.

Good to know

Drafts only

Every post Nina writes lands in your Posts list as a draft. Nothing is published automatically. Someone on your team reviews it and clicks Publish.

No keys to copy

The plugin uses WordPress’s own built-in Application Passwords, so the secure connection is created for you when you approve it.

Disconnect anytime

Go to Settings › Nina Systems and click Disconnect. Access is revoked right away, and every post stays exactly where it is.

Common questions

I cannot find Plugins in my admin menu

Your account is not an Administrator, or your hosting plan does not allow plugins. Ask a site admin to run the steps above. If your site is on WordPress.com, plugins require a plan that supports them. If upgrading is not an option, email tech@trynina.co and we will set up another way to connect.

Clicking Connect shows an error about Application Passwords

WordPress only offers Application Passwords on sites served over HTTPS. Check that your admin shows a padlock in the address bar. Some security plugins can also switch the feature off; in Wordfence, for example, look for the option to disable application passwords and uncheck it. Then click Connect to Nina again.

Does Nina get access to my theme, plugins or customers?

No. Nina only uses the connection to create blog post drafts and upload the images that go with them. It never changes your theme, plugins, settings or users.

How do I remove Nina’s access?

Click Disconnect under Settings › Nina Systems. You can also revoke it under Users › Profile › Application Passwords. Deactivating or deleting the plugin afterward is fine; your posts are not affected.
